SECUPRY: from data entry to the XML file
A desktop application that replaces filling in regulatory files by hand: the data goes into a guided form and the XML file comes out already formed.
In brief
- SECUPRY is desktop software in Python with a Qt interface, built to compile periodic regulatory reports without writing XML by hand.
- It handles two separate sets of records, natural persons and legal entities, each with its own entry form.
- It produces four separate XML files: the file for natural persons, the one for legal entities, and the respective update files.
- The data identifying the submission (registration number, reference year and quarter, client type) is set once and applies to the whole file.
What the problem was
Periodic regulatory reports are submitted in XML, and XML does not forgive: one field in the wrong place, a code outside its format or a badly written date gets the whole submission rejected.
Filling in those files by hand, or pasting them from a spreadsheet, means redoing the same work every quarter with the same risk, and only noticing the mistake when the file comes back refused.
How it works
The application offers two parallel routes, one for natural persons and one for legal entities, because the two file formats have different fields. Inside each, the form mirrors the structure of the file field by field: the personal and residence data, the document details, the tax code or VAT number, and the numeric values of the operations to be declared.
The data identifying the submission as a whole is set at the top and stays valid for every entry made, so it does not have to be repeated.
First submission and updates, kept apart
Saving produces the XML file already matching the expected structure. The software keeps first-submission files separate from update files, generating distinct files: this avoids the most common mistake, which is resubmitting as new an entry that only needed correcting.
